Our Story
Bloom Where You're Planted Flower Farm is a small cut flower farm in Emyvale, Prince Edward Island. I'm Monique Mowat, and I started it in January 2026, on the land I already called home. This farm is something I dreamed about for years before I found the nerve to begin.
What Grows Here, And Why
The rows hold a mix of annuals, perennials, and woody shrubs, all grown with a lot of thought about what grows well here and what lasts long in a bouquet. Perennials are the heart of the plan, settling in and coming back stronger every year, and I'm discovering the joy of annuals along the way, with new varieties to try each season.
I especially love growing unique and unusual varieties and bringing them together into natural, one-of-a-kind arrangements that reflect the beauty of each season. Some flowers are grown specifically for cutting. Others are grown simply because I love watching them bloom.
A Place To Spend Time
From the very beginning, I knew I wanted this to be more than just rows of flowers. I wanted a space where people could slow down, wander through the gardens, enjoy the beauty, and feel connected to the flowers and the growing process.
That's why there's a U-Pick garden opening in summer 2027, and why this fall is about more rows, more benches, and a pergola where you can sit and put your bouquet together without hurrying.
Starting At 50
At 50, I decided it wasn't too late to start something new. In fact, maybe it was the perfect time. So I planted the first seeds of this dream right here, at home. And just like a garden, I knew it would take time, patience, care, and a whole lot of growing.
That's what the name means to me. You don't have to wait for the perfect time, or go somewhere else to begin. Sometimes you just have to look around, put down some roots, and start growing right where you are.
Where It Goes From Here
This first year has been a big learning experience, full of excitement, challenges, surprises, and plenty of reminders that growing a flower farm takes patience. I'm loving every minute of it.
This fall more growing rows go in the ground, with signage, cards, and stickers on the way for the stand and the bouquets. Bouquet subscriptions are planned for the 2027 season, and the U-Pick garden opens next summer. What started as an idea I carried for years is finally becoming something real.
"If you don't do it now, you'll never do it."
A friend said that to me, and it was the push I needed. This farm is me finally doing it.
